Best accessible beaches in Hawaii

Get ready to immerse yourself in a world of turquoise color, golden sand and wild nature. Surrounded by a spectacular volcanic landscape, beaches in Hawaii are the perfect place to unwind and take a relaxing swim in warm waters.

In this week’s post we invite you to go on a fascinating journey through the best accessible beaches in Hawaii.

Poipu Beach

Located on the south coast of the island of Kauai, Poipu Beach stands out as one of the best beaches in the United States. It is characterized by its crescent shape and has lava rock formations at both ends.
The two bays are divided by a sandbar where Hawaiian monk seals, tropical birds or giant tortoises occasionally rest. At the same time, away from the protected area for fauna, locals and visitors enjoy the tropical sun.
The official page for the Hawaii Tourism Authority indicates that all-terrain wheelchairs can be borrowed for Poipu Beach Park. You should also contact the Kaua’i County Parks and Recreation Department at (808) 241-4460.

Kailua Beach Park

One of Oahu‘s largest and most beautiful beach parks is at the southern end of Kailua Bay. And it is not a secret, since it is especially popular among those who practice water sports such as kayaking, paddleboarding and windsurfing.
Surrounded by green hills and mountains, Kailua Beach Park also offers a perfect setting for a picnic with family or friends.
The City and County of Honolulu website notes that there are access mats near the concession stand, and one of them leads to an overlook from Canoe Halau.
ATV wheelchair can also be reserved at (808) 768-8980. Hours are Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. m. to 3:00 p.m. m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. m. to 12:00 p.m. m.. It is necessary to call a day in advance, and you must remember that the chairs are available for two hours on a first-come, first-served basis.

Ala Moana Beach

Ala Moana Beach is a favorite for many Honoluluans, as it is not as crowded as Waikiki Beach. With the buildings of the capital as a backdrop, it’s possible to take a leisurely swim and enjoy the variety of cultural events at nearby Magic Island.
The access mats are located at the east and west ends of the beach, in front of the food stalls. Additionally, you can reserve all-terrain wheelchairs at (808) 941-8882 (hours are 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, although they may change).

Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve

The beautiful Hanauma Bay is one of the places we recommend you visit on Oahu. The ancient volcanic crater boasts a pure marine ecosystem and one of the most spectacular beaches in the country.
Wheelchair users can use the trolley service to visit the state park, as it is included in the entrance fee. There are also amphibious chairs available to enjoy the beach.

Tell us, what is your favorite beach in Hawaii? If you have never been, which one would you like to visit?
