Accessible plans for Halloween

The night of terror is near. A spooky, but also fun, atmosphere begins to take over many places. And we want you to be prepared to live this holiday like never before.

In this week’s post we propose several accessible plans to celebrate Halloween. You decide whether trick or treat.

The Louisville Jack O’Lantern Spectacular in Louisville, Kentucky

Today, the pumpkin is a quintessential symbol of Halloween. All over the country events are organized where they are the protagonists, and it is difficult to choose one.
This time we recommend the Louisville Jack O’Lantern Spectacular, which celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2022. Visitors enter Iroquois Park and, through a path surrounded by tall trees, discover more than 5,000 hand-carved pumpkins.
According to the official website, people with reduced mobility can find reserved parking near the ticket office. In addition, the trail is made of compact limestone, easy to navigate in a wheelchair. There are a couple of steep slopes, but there is usually no problem.

Haunted Mansion at Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California

Visiting Disneyland Park on Halloween is a great plan for family fun. The characters are costumed according to the theme and everything is set for the occasion. There is even spooky music.
Haunted houses are a Halloween classic, but they are not always adapted for people with reduced mobility. In this theme park there is a terrifying mansion inspired by the movie Nightmare Before Christmas that can be enjoyed. Wheelchair users must transfer to an accessible vehicle at this attraction. Staff will provide boarding instructions.

Halloween at a movie studio in Los Angeles

If you are passionate about horror movies, what better plan than going to a movie studio at this time of year? Universal Studios Hollywood will make you shiver with its Halloween Horror Nights. As indicated on its website, the park has many of its attractions designed to provide access to people with reduced mobility.

NYC Village Halloween Parade

The famous Halloween Parade in the Greenwich Village neighborhood is being held for the 49th time. This year, the theme is “freedom”.
There are international marching bands, dancers, giant puppets and many New Yorkers who put their creativity into the costumes they wear. Attendance is usually massive, so plan ahead and enjoy this incredible spectacle.

Immersive Experience at Eastern State Penitentiary

Experience Halloween inside a former Philadelphia prison. Halloween Nights at Philadelphia’s Eastern State Penitentiary is a unique experience where there are historical tours, unexpected scares, haunted houses, spooky soundtrack….
Given its historic nature, the penitentiary complex has some inaccessible locations. Two Halloween Nights attractions have stairs, but the rest of the event can be enjoyed by people with reduced mobility. In addition, there are two accessible parking lots in front of the entrance.
You can find more information about accessibility on the official website.
