Summer in Paris: accessible events

Summer in Paris: accessible events

Don't let the heat stop you. This summer Paris offers countless proposals that travelers with reduced mobility can enjoy. We recommend five accessible outdoor events in this week’s post.

The Tuileries Fun Fair

From June 25 to August 28, the heart of Paris hosts a fair in the beautiful Tuileries Gardens. Among its more than 60 attractions include carousels, a Ferris wheel and ice palace. Also, there are numerous stalls where typical fair specialties are served, such as caramel apples, cotton candy, churros or waffles.

Admission is free, although the attractions are paid. According to the official website of the Paris Convention and Visitors Bureau, entrances are located at 206 rue de Rivoli, place de la Concorde and place du Carrousel.

Paris Jazz Festival

Music and nature come together every year in the Parc Floral de Paris. The Paris Jazz Festival is held here, which was born in 1994 and has established itself as one of the most important national events in its genre. Surrounded by its green and floral landscape, spectators listen to great international musicians.

The park has an accessible restroom, correctly marked entrances and a wheelchair loan service. Also, persons with disabilities have priority access to concerts.

The natural space is also the beautiful setting for other summer festivals such as Les Pestacles and the Classique Au Vert.

Silhouette Film Festival

The Silhouette Association organizes the largest outdoor short film festival in the country. This year it will take place from August 26 to September 3 at the Parc de la Butte du Chapeau Rouge. In addition, the event is accessible and free for all.

The Musical Fountains Show

The gardens of the Palace of Versailles also offer their own musical show. The fountains captivate to the sound of baroque music and mark the path of visitors.

The annual Musical Fountains Show began on April 1 and ends on October 30. In addition, the tour adds the magic of illumination at the Night Fountains Show, which takes place every Saturday from June 11 to September 17.

Its official website indicates its commitment to people with disabilities and offers contact information to adequately assist visitors during the visits. The gardens are not easily accessible to people with reduced mobility. Therefore, it is recommended to arrive by car and park in the Flottille or Neptune car parks, or on foot through the Queen’s Gate.

La Nuit Aux Invalides

La Nuit Aux Invalides celebrates the 200th anniversary of Napoleon’s death. From July 16 to September 7, the heart of Les Invalides proposes this unique immersive experience. The projections on the monument will make you relive the story of the Emperor like never before.

Wheelchair users enter through the gate at 129 rue de Grenelle and are escorted to the venue where they can enjoy the show.

Tell us, would you like to attend any of these events in Paris? If you have already been, share your experience.
