Adapted ski resorts around the world

Adapted ski resorts around the world

Surround yourself with snowy mountains and disconnect from the routine. In this week's post we recommend some resorts where you can practice adaptive skiing in different countries around the world.

Park City (Utah, United States)

Park City is home to one of the largest ski resorts in the country. Thanks to an agreement with the National Ability Center, this adapted sport is offered for people with disabilities.
The instructors can teach you different skiing and snowboarding techniques. At all times they adjust to your needs and abilities. They also provide the appropriate equipment at the beginning of each lesson.
Those who already have experience have the option to rent the equipment and use it on their own. Bi-ski, mono-ski, ski kart, ski bike and snow slide are available. More information can be found on the National Ability Center and Park City Mountain websites.

La Plagne (La Plagne-Tarentaise, France)

The large resort of La Plagne welcomes many skiers with disabilities every year. In the resort you can find parking spaces reserved for people with reduced mobility, adapted accommodations and accessible restaurants.
Companies such as Oxygene also offer adaptive and stand-up skiing lessons. The experience includes the appropriate equipment.

Grandvalira (Canillo, Andorra)

Grandvalira is a true skiing paradise. Located in the east of Andorra is this resort, the largest in southern Europe.
People with reduced mobility have many adapted accesses. In addition, this group can benefit from a special discount.
The Grandvalira Ski School has specialized professionals to help you learn, improve or perfect your skiing. In order to coordinate availability and material, please contact them through the emails indicated on the official website.

Sierra Nevada (Granada, Spain)

The Sierra Nevada Ski Resort is the one that enjoys the most days of sunshine per year. In fact, it is the southernmost in Europe.
As indicated on the official website, the place has adapted gondolas and facilities for adaptive skiing. Some chairlifts are accessible for users with seated ski equipment, but not for wheelchairs. In addition, the facilities have reserved parking, ramps, accessible toilets and elevators, among other adaptations for people with disabilities.

Madrisa (Davos Klosters, Switzerland)

The Madrisa station is fully adapted for visitors with reduced mobility and families. The cable car and restaurant are adapted. The chairlift is height-adjustable and has an automatic safety bar.
The accessibility of the resort is excellent, so the word has spread among many war veterans who want to ski. However, you can enjoy skiing here at any time of the year. A playground with adventure rides that are accessible for physically and visually impaired children is available in summer.
