Viva Las Vegas! Accessible attractions where the King of Rock and Roll continues to live on

More than forty years after his last performance, Elvis Presley is remembered around the world as the King of Rock and Roll. But there is one place where, undoubtedly, he is always honored: Las Vegas.

Elvis managed to reinvent himself in this popular Nevada city. At the end of the 60s, the singer’s career was going through a rough patch, but his shows in Las Vegas made him triumph again. Consequently, his success made other artists want to perform here, and people began to flock to this destination to enjoy their favorite stars.

In this post we present several accessible places where Elvis continues to shine.

The Star

The Neon Museum features the Elvis Presley star. This recognition was originally located in the Las Vegas Walk of Stars. When the Strip underwent renovations, the plaque was damaged. The Viva Las Vegas Elvis Presley Fan Club donated it to the museum to be preserved alongside other iconic symbols and signs of the city. This way, everyone will be able to visit it and will not run the risk of it being destroyed again.

The museum is accessible to both manual and motorized wheelchair users. Its surface is composed of very fine gravel, so visitors can move around comfortably.

Bronze statue

The Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino – formerly known as the International Hotel – is an accessible hotel where Elvis came back on stage after eight years. At first, the agreement was to perform shows for four weeks. However, due to the overwhelming success, the artist performed more than 600 sold out shows.

A year after his death, the hotel erected a bronze statue to celebrate the singer’s career. If you have the opportunity to enter the lobby of the establishment, do not hesitate to take a photo.

Shows

Many Las Vegas casinos and lodgings offer musical events that honor Elvis. For example, the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino, which we mentioned above, is hosting a festival in July 2022. Another accessible hotel, Bally’s Las Vegas, also has an incredible show with huge screens, lights and holograms.

Chapels

In 1964 the hit movie Viva Las Vegas, starring Elvis Presley, was released. In it, the actor was getting married in the Little Church of the West chapel. From there, many grooms celebrated their weddings imitating his iconic look.

Most chapels have ground-level entrances or few steps, making them accessible to people with reduced mobility.
